Our age divisions and events are listed on the contestant information sheet. Memberships are $40 for the 4 events. Permits $15 per event. We will use the JR SRA rulebook as our guideline. We have several events not covered in there and I will post those rules below. Our age divisions are similar but now quite the same. Payoff will be 70% and no additional fees except the credit card fee when you enter. NO fundraising requirements and NO work requirements; however, we would love for knowledgeable more seasoned rodeo competitors to jump in and help the kids and those new to rodeo. Goat Undressing-National Little Britches Rules changed to reflect no horse Goat Tail Untying A. Objective—For the contestant to run on foot across the start line, run to where a goat is tethered, remove a ribbon from the goat’s tail and race back across the finish line in the shortest amount of time possible. B. Rules: 1. Equipment — (three) 3-foot (including snaps) long soft rope for tethering goats with a metal snap affixed to each end. Stake with tether ring. Acceptable is a stake with an eye rolled into it and with a length of rope with a loop tied in one end and attached to the stake at the eye. All adjust- ed so that no part of the stake protrudes above the ground and just enough of the loop of the length of rope sticks above the ground so the tether rope may be snapped on to it. 3. Contestant must cross the start line, race to where the goat is tethered, catch the goat, remove the ribbon from the goat’s tail, and run back across the finish line, which will be located (ten) 10 feet from tether stake back in the direction of the start line. Contestant must finish cross line with ribbon in hand. a. Once time has started, if the ribbon falls off the goat's tail prior to the contestant crossing the start line, the contestant will be issued a re-run. If the ribbon falls off the goat's tail after the contestant has crossed the start line, the contestant will pick up the ribbon and run to the finish line with ribbon in hand. 4. The goat will be tethered at a point (one hundred) 20 feet from the start line and held at the point furthest away from the starting line and facing the starting line and far enough away from fences or walls that there is room to reasonably compete. 5. The goat will be held by a goat handler facing the starting point until the start line flagger flags the start of the time. He/she will then release the goat and step back out of the way. Contestant’s safety is top priority. 6. Time runs from the time the start line field judge drops his/her flag starting the time until the field judge drops his/her flag as the contestant crosses finish line. D. Disqualifications not covered in B. Rules: 2. Undue roughness in handling the goat. 3. Crossing the finish line without the ribbon in hand.
PW GOAT DOGGIN’1. Pee Wee or Lead Line event only. Goat will be on a 10-foot line staked in the arena.2.Must throw goat as in goat tying. All 4 feet must be horizontal to the ground, and all pointing in the same direction, and the contestant must be in contact with the goat to receive a flag for the time.3. There will be a 60 second time limit. Time starts when contestant crosses the marked time line, and ends when goat is legally thrown.4. If goat escapes the stake during your run, you will be given a re-run at judge’s discretion.
Mail Bag Race (Pony Express)2 Barrels Placed at the end of the arena. Rider must ride in and cross the timeline and go around both barrels in either direction. Mail handler (provided by Mission Mules Rodeo Staff) must pass the mail bag to the rider between the 2 barrels. Time ends when rider crosses timeline in possession of mail bag Mail bag will be provided.
Calf Tracking- Rules adopted from JR Rodeo Assn in Oklahoma. Rider backs in the box just like the breakaway ropers, NO ROPE, nods to release calf, time begins when line judge drops the flag. There is a “gate” (a pole bending pole placed 20’ off of the arena rail, judges’ discretion where in the arena, can vary locations per rodeo/arena set up) the rider is to track the calf until they push the calf through the “gate” (either direction is acceptable), flag man drops flag and time ends. Fastest time wins. Pee Wee have 60 sec. to complete or DQ. Open to kids who have NEVER roped off a horse in a rodeo or competition.
